The challenge: learn something new about yourself

Starting from the base of Snowbasin ski mountain, you’ll have 12 hours to find out how many summits you can climb in one day. It’s just walking, but it’s 12 hours of it. Uphill. Doable for all fitness levels but challenging for everyone. It’s one day of you vs. you with no distractions. Just the next step up the mountain and the focus and clarity that brings. How many summits can you push yourself to conquer?

Why 12 hours?

We believe that people underestimate what they can accomplish with one day of their lives. Climbing for 12 hours washes away the noise and can change your perspective of just how much you can achieve between sunrise and sunset each day. This is unlike any race you’ve seen. There isn’t a finish line for a reason… the lessons we each take away from the mountain are about so much more than who finishes fastest.

Who will you climb with?

Who do you want to stand on the summit with? Overcoming challenges TOGETHER makes the day more memorable and the lessons even stronger. Recruit your crew to climb alongside you and push each other farther than you could go alone.

FAQs

Starting from the base of Snowbasin ski mountain, you’ll have 12 hours to find out how many summits you can climb in one day. Hike up. Gondola down. Repeat. It’s just walking, but it’s 12 hours of it. Uphill. Doable for all fitness levels but challenging for everyone. It’s one day of you vs. you with no distractions. Just the next step up the mountain and the focus and clarity that brings. This challenge is an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone, where the real growth happens.

We’ll start at a base elevation of 6,391 feet above sea level. Each ascent up the mountain is 2,310 vertical feet of elevation bringing you to 8,701 feet at the summit. From there, you’ll rest and recover on a gondola ride down to the base before starting to climb again.

One hike up the mountain along our route is 2.3 miles.

Registration includes exclusive entry into this 12-hour event, an 8-week training plan to prepare you to succeed, food, drink, and other needs at our on-mountain aid stations, limited edition event swag, hiking with some of your favorite iFIT trainers, and a big post event party to celebrate your achievements with your fellow climbers!

The challenge is 12 continuous hours, but you can always take a break if you need to fuel up, rest, or whatever else you need. There’s a bit of strategy involved, and a bit of knowing your own strengths and weaknesses. Are you the type of person that can just keep climbing at a moderate pace with only gondola rides down to rest, or are you someone who climbs a little faster, but needs to take breaks? Your approach to the challenge is your own, although our team has deep expertise in this type of fitness challenge and will be available to answer any questions you may have.

No, hiking for the entire 12 hours is not required. You are welcome to take breaks as needed. Bathrooms will be available inside the lodge at the base and the summit as well as one location along the hiking route.

Summit Push participants must be 14 or older

There are portions of the event that are participant-only, but spectators are allowed near the start area and also at the summit where they can cheer on participants. Gondola tickets for spectators will be available for purchase onsite at the ticket office near the base of the mountain for $25.

Yes, participants will receive an 8-week Training Guide which is included with your registration. This Training Guide will be emailed in two week installments, sent every other week, to keep you present with your training and not looking at the day of the event. Our coaches have created this guide to help each participant prepare for the challenge. The Guide is a two tiered system (Beginner, Advanced) in which the participant can choose which level to follow based on the description we provide for each. If you’re willing to put in the work, this guide will have you ready.

This varies, as everyone has a different beginning fitness level. We do know that our 8-week Training Guide will help prepare you for the challenge. We also know that at some point on the mountain, the willingness to keep going becomes as much mental as physical. This is when climbing with us becomes a transformative experience for many.

Yes, we strongly recommend using hiking poles during the challenge as they help maintain balance and traction on the trail.

Participants have 3 opportunities to check in, where they will receive their bib, timing chip, event shirt, wristband & any promotional material/product. Thursday DICK’S Sporting Goods - 7170 S 1000 E, Midvale, UT 84047 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday DICK’S Sporting Goods - 1201 N Hill Field Rd #1024, Layton, UT 84041 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM Saturday Snowbasin Mountain - 3925 Snowbasin Rd, Huntsville, UT 84317 3:00 AM - 4:30 AM

Yes, parking is available and is free!

The average high is 73 degrees with a low of 42 degrees. Sunrise will be at 5:56am and sunset at 8:57.

The weather should be warm during the day and cool at night. Expect sun exposure while climbing. You’ll want layers for colder morning weather that you can remove as it warms up. Trail or hiking shoes are recommended as these provide more traction for this course which consists of loose rock, gravel and hard packed dirt.
